Split charge diodes and voltage sensing relays for charging multiple battery banks from fewer charging sources.
A Split Charge Diode assembly takes the charge from a single alternator and splits it between multiple battery banks. The diodes distribute the charge based on the demand from the battery banks. If one bank is very discharged, then that bank will get a larger proportion of the charge current. Each output is rated to the full current rating of the device, so if one bank is fully charged, the other bank can take the full output of the alternator.
Voltage Sensing Relays. These are connected between two battery banks. As the voltage of one bank rises to the pre-determined voltage, the relay activates and connects the two batteries in parallel, allowing charge to flow into the second bank.
