The compact handset has been designed to be rugged and waterproof. Ease of use has also been a priority so the circular NavPad has only a few keys so the primary functions of all systems in the network can be accessed with the minimum of button presses.
A keypad lock means it cannot be operated accidentally and the display/menu is fully customizable so you can call up whatever data you want to view. It also features a white backlight for day use and red for night use.
Power comes from a rechargeable Li-Ion battery which is charged whenever the handset is placed in its cradle and the controller uses Bluetooth Class 1 wireless technology offering a range of up to 100m, That makes it suitable for even the largest superyachts however, the product is designed for a wide range of craft from production boats to single handed racing machines.
The WR20 needs to be connected to the SimNet network in order to have control of the products operating from the system. When linked to an autopilot, course adjustment can be done using the NavPad and as well as control of the steering features a heading information display is literally always to hand. Similarly it can remotely command your radar, chartplotter or sounder and change views by zooming of scrolling the cursor.
You can also operate the MOB button from anywhere on board. When making VHF calls from the WR20 handset again all radio controls can be operated and there is the facility to call up crew if an intercom is installed.
