Simrad HT53, the definitive handheld VHF Radiotelephone with accessory socket for optional Fistmike (WPSM3) or Headset / Helmet
Perfectly adapted to life at sea, the Simrad HT53 handheld VHF radiotelephone. Incorporating the same high levels of reliability of other Simrad VHF's in an even easier to use and more compact unit.
Simrad has developed this new hand held VHF radio with the specific facility to be used with a headset or helmet with inbuilt earpiece and microphone. The radio is based on Simrad’s popular HT50, a robust, highly efficient hand held radio which is water proof and drop resistant. This makes the new HT53 ideal for safety services, marshalling duties and for use on fast RIB’s.
With the HT53 clipped to his belt and headset in place, the HT53 provides the user with the ability to be self contained in communication. This allows the user to move about the vessel and even board another vessel while in complete communication with colleagues.
The operation of the HT53 is of the highest standards needed for VHF transmission and reception. 54 international channels, plus up to 16 additional programmable channels for particular countries and commercial use. Dual watch, tri watch and memory scan are all incorporated, in addition to channel scan which allows the unit to monitor as well as transmit.
The HT53 is likely to be used in emergencies and bad weather so the control buttons have been designed to be confidently operated with cold fingers and even wearing gloves, without mistakenly pressing the wrong button. The unit withstands attack from frost, salt and ultra violet rays. A large backlit LCD screen clearly displays the selected channel and operating mode when operating in poor light.
Anticipating the rough usage a hand held will often encounter on a sailing yacht, powerboat or RIB, the HT53 has been built to withstand being dropped from 1metre on to a hard surface. The entire design of the HT53 has ensured the unit is durable and resistant to damage.
With the addition of the headset facility the new HT53 provides a valuable facility for safety and fast boat operations
The HT53’s predecessors earned quite a reputation for their robust construction and dependable reliability, making them highly prized by coastguards, rescue services and defence forces around the world. Designed and built to the same high standards – but smaller, more economical and even easier to handle – the new HT53 is indeed a worthy successor.
Easy to operate
If you have ever struggled with the fiddly little buttons of some handheld VHF radios, the control of the HT51 will come as a revelation. Even in the bitter cold with gloved hands, you can easily press the buttons you want without inadvertently pressing anything else. Operation is simple, logical and intuitive, with clear LCD screen graphics to indicate the selected channel and operating mode.
As tough as they come
Designed in accordance with the GMDSS maritime safety regulations, the HT53 will withstand being dropped from a height of 1 meter onto a hard surface. The rubber encased flexible aerial is stud mounted for maximum durability, and all the controls are push-button keys, so there are no projections that might be vulnerable to knocks.
Watertight to 1 meter
The GMDSS rules also require handheld VHF radios to be sufficiently waterproof to cope with use in a liferaft. The casing and controls of the HT53 are fully sealed, to make the radio not just weatherproof, but sufficiently watertight that it can be immersed to 1 meter without coming to any harm.
Dependable performance
Thanks to its superbly designed electronics, the HT53’s reception clarity, transmitter efficiency and resistance to interference are more than a match for any of its competitors. In addition to the maximum 5 Watt transmission power, for short distance calls in harbors and marinas, there is a low power 1 Watt setting to preserve battery life. Included as standard are a standard 1200mAh NimH rechargeable battery, 12V DC charger and mains charger. A rapid charger are also available if required. Custom channel choice
The HT53 features 54 international channels, plus up to 16 additional channels used for particular country requirements and for commercial users. With dual- and tri-watch, as well as all channel scan and memory scan (where permitted), it has a powerful ability to monitor the airwaves.
The HT53 is supplied with rechargeable nicad battery in a fully sealed housing and comes with a state of the art commercial charger
