The new Simrad AXIS 30 radio is purpose-designed as a GMDSS compliant emergency handheld VHF. It is ideally suited for use in a liferaft, although it can also provide emergency communications in the event of a vessel losing electrical power. The AXIS 30 features a removable lithium battery that gives an amazing 15 hours use, and will hold charge for up to five years.
In the short time that they were first launched, AXIS GMDSS radios have become internationally recognised as outstanding examples of design and performance in handheld VHF radios. It is because of such high standards that the radios are used by some of the most demanding operators in the world such as the British Royal Navy, the French Navy, the RNLI and the Royal Marine’s SBS (Special Boat Service) unit.
In keeping with Simrad’s ease-of-use approach, AXIS 30 can be operated with no previous training. It has large, clear, illuminated controls, enabling full use of the radio in total darkness.
It is also reassuring to know that the unit is buoyant if dropped in water.
